Hello there! Another getaway weekend with just my fiancé and I. I’m blessed to have someone in my life who gets excited the same way I do when it comes to going on an adventure or camping. We became kids in a candy store (close enough). This camping trip was in Franconia, NH. New Hampshire again? Yes! See, I wasn’t kidding when I said that NH became my absolute favorite getaway location. Aside from the three hour drive, this state is beautiful and there’s so much to do.
It was one interesting weekend. We decided to go back to Falling Waters Trail again because we didn’t finish it the first time we went camping a few months ago. It was raining on and off all day, not only that but when we were close to the summit we turned around because it was almost dawn and we needed to find a place to set up camp. Sad to say but “Mission Incomplete”, once again. We ended up staying at Lafayette Place Campground in Franconia Notch State Park, less than 1 mile away from the trail. We rented a tent site and spent the night in the middle of the woods with heavy rain. How cool!
The next day we hit a 2-mile trail in Lafayette Place Campground that took us to The Basin. The Basin is a scenic trail with a few cascades and whirlpool that has been carved in the rock over centuries. Not knowing where this trail was going to take us, I have to say the 2 miles were worth it. Overall besides the raining, the getting wet, the turning back to find somewhere to camp leaving us with an incomplete mission, it was worth it. Can’t wait to go again and finish this damn trail! I guess I love a challenge after all 🙂
